gate but does not refuse- MAKE SURE you watch how quiet she was at gate when they opened it & then wasn't sure if she was supposed to haul butt to 1st barrel or what... Seems forgiving with inexperienced hands (for example,yanks on her, keeps hanging on her mouth & then whips her - she also sets her pretty hard at first barrel.) I personally think with a quieter rider the mare nay be more settled & one not need to do all that.
With a young rider - key would be start out with tie down so they could grow comfortable with her. She is good for any beginner barrel racer (but not baby beginner learning to RIDE for example) & she is consistent, & automatic in the poles and barrels. 21 second pole horse and 2d/3d barrel horse. If you put a tie down on her it will slow her
down & give a younger rider a chance to get with her & get confident. A jr high girl bought her as a back up pole horse and now does not need her. Motivated seller!!

8 yr old AQHA gelding 15.1 - Grandson of Secretariat -From the family: "Vegas came to us with an injury that has prevented him from being the racehorse/performance horse that he was meant to be. Because of his sweet nature & willingness to please he has been the horse that his previous owners used in their lesson program. He has given lessons to baby beginnners in a round pen & didn't get wound up when they messed up - he was good at teaching kids how to steer, saddle, pick up feet, bridle, brush, etc. EASY to catch & load, etc. We were told he has been to playdays & been shown in little 4H shows english & western -walk/trot. He is perfectly content to walk & has never tried to run away with anyone that we're aware of. He has been ridden in a pasture, with & without other horses. He has never acted barn sour or offered to buck, bite, kick, or rear. He's very forgiving! We ended up with Vegas as a teacher for a family member that was a beginner adult. Now that he has done his job & they're ready to step up to the next level we're ready to let someone else learn from Vegas." He does need to be ridden on a regular basis to keep himself in good shape & his feet need to be trimmed on a schedule. The videos, pics seen here were taken with him not being ridden for 3 months! He was fine, acted like he was ridden every day & was as good as gold. He needs to be ridden regularly because it keeps him fit & he moves better if he's kept exercised. Vegas is not a complete dead head, he will trot & lope if you really get after him & ideally he will go to a home where someone can be the "teacher" & can use him to show others how to ride. Because of wanting him to go to a special home where he's loved & appreciated his owners are willing to work with the new family on a payment plan if needed. If you have some kids, nieces, nephews that all need to learn to ride, etc or have a lesson program & need an easy one work with Vegas may be one to look at!

He has been used in junior rodeos, jackpots, and playdays. A 2 year old has ridden him as well as older kids. Rocket does not let kids ride double. He does not tolerate ropes over his head, nor spurs. Rocket loves to run. He is a great horse to teach kids how to ride, and introduce them to competitive events.

Zip is an all around winner and has been a blessing to our family. Hes been the first roping horse for many beginners and taught them well. He is quite in the box, scores great, leaves flat and allows a young rider to get to the front on his saddle and swing his rope. He can do barrels, poles, flags, goats, and all calf roping events. My son even rides him bareback to practice for his steer riding! Hes the friendliest horse on the place. Your family will fall in love with him. This horse is really, really broke and very kid friendly. He has been used at youth horse camps for inner city kids as well as entertainment at my sons birthday party for first time riders. Chigger is a 9yr old paint gelding.
He is super smooth to ride, and is very well broke.
His main job in life is as a barrel horse, although he has a really great start in heading. Chigger is extremely fast and very powerful, he needs an experienced rider. He is a 1/2D horse and has won at open rodeos, crowds don't seem to bother him. He is easy to shoe and easy to load, and has good ground manners.
